As previously mentioned, there are many different types of crown moulding. While we've covered the more simple styles of Tuscan, Georgian and Deep Cove, in this post, we'll be looking a little deeper at some of the more detailed mouldings. These styles of moulding include Dentil and Embossed. Available in paintable MDF and hardwood, the options are only beginning as you look deeper into the choices available.
Embossed moulding is some of the most detailed mouldings, coming in a wide range of patterns to suit anyone's style. They can range from simple details like rope or reeds..
to more complex ones such as egg and dart,
or symbols of leaves or grapes and vines.
The sizes also range from 5” to 9”, to which a cornice extender can be applied.
The Dentil style is a bit more simple than the Embossed moulding. Handcrafted, the small added squares provide a sharper look to the moulding, and as such, it is seen to be more masculine out of all the styles.
The cornice is fairly simple, as the main attraction to it is the added squares, but if you want it a little more stylized, it is available with rope instead of only the straight lines at the top.
